Joining Hands: Integrating Gender and HIV/AIDS
Babcock, Anne /
2007
Abstract:
This report documents ACORD’s experience of implementing Stepping Stones – a participatory, community-centred approach to addressing gender and HIV/AIDS – in 3 countries: Angola, Uganda and Tanzania. This ‘project’ as it is referred to in this report took place between April 2004 and June 2006. The main body of the report is devoted to describing the way in which it was implemented and the project outcomes in each of the three countries. The project uses participatory methodologies aimed at helping people develop the skills and confidence to understand and challenge prevailing norms and customs that reinforce the effects of poverty and others factors in their environment that make them vulnerable to HIV and AIDS.
