Abstract:
REPOA’s Brief 11 examines the extent of local corruption perceived by residents from six councils in Tanzania. Respondents’ opinions are given on: trends in corruption; who they perceive as involved; their awareness of measures to address corruption, and their ideas on how to address corruption. The brief is based on the findings from two surveys conducted in 2003 and 2006 of 1,260 respondents from the Bagamoyo, Iringa, Kilosa and Moshi District Councils, as well as Ilala Municipal Council and the Mwanza City Council.
