Tanzania - Water sector development program

The purpose of this Environmental and Social Management Framework for Tanzania is to provide a strategic guide for the integration of environmental and social considerations in the planning and implementation of the water sector development program (WSDP) activities. The WSDP will improve access to water supply and sanitation services and strengthen sector institutions for integrated water resources management. By the end of the first five years of support program, the Government of Tanzania will have met its MKUKUTA (National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty) target of increasing water services coverage and be on the way to meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) for improved water supply and sanitation coverage across all segments of the population as well as have in place a sustainable regulatory framework for comprehensive water resources management and development.
