Abstract:
The report is based on analysis and review of existing data in Tanzania during the nineties and was carried out as part of a series of reports on AIDS related trends during the nineties. The trends analysis that is complemented by findings from local research studies is based on the five cross-sectional surveys that were conducted between 1989 and 1999 on nationally representative samples of men 15-59 and women 15-49 years old The main source of data on spread of HIV/AIDS in Tanzania is from Antenatal clinic surveillance under the epidemiology unit of NACP and local research
