Pasture research at Uyole over the last twenty years is reviewed. Work on natural pastures was designed to find ways of increasing yield through fertilizer use, cutting management and oversowing. The pastures showed high response to applied nitrogen and best levels appeared to be 100 kg N year4. At least some 40 kg P ha4 should be applied. Cutting twice per season increased yield but at the expense of quality. More frequent cutting (three to four times per season) decreased yield but quality increased. Oversowing failed without land disturbance.
