UNDP /
2000
Abstract:
The report gives an overview of the status and context for human development globally and in Tanzania. It observes that by 2050, 90% of the 4.5 billion of the workforce will be in developing countries and that it may explode to 235% In 1999 Tanzania ranked 156 out of 174 in the human development index (HDI). About 650,000 enter the job sector and only 33,000 wage sector jobs were created in 1998. It focuses on HD as both the goal and engine of economic growth. To meet the job challenges Tanzania must have an economic growth of 7% per annum.
