Fight against HIV-AIDS in Zanzibar

This project is aimed to support the planning of interventions against the spreading of HIV/AIDS in Zanzibar State. The project includes an assessment of HIV seroprevalence, still undefined in the country. An evaluation of the prevalence of other viruses, such as HBV, HCV and HTLVs, will be also provided to define priorities for blood transfusion bio-safety. Zanzibar Ministry of Health will be supported in organising educational programmes against HIV/AIDS diffusion. As the first step, a specific training will be provided to health workers, school teachers and other public officers. Zanzibar Ministry of Health will be also supported in the organisation of AIDS case surveillance and reporting. Priorities for HIV/AIDS clinical management will be evaluated, too
