Issues for Discussion Regarding Future Structure and Operations of the Strategic Grain Reserve (SGR) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Co-Operatives

Abstract:
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives through the SGR Board of directors established a technical committee for the review of structure and operations of the strategic grain reserve(SGR). Its establishment was prompted by several factors such as; changing socio economic environment limited budgetary allocations for the operations a need to reduce costs and seek for alternative for maintaining efficiency and effectiveness and the need to increase transparency in operations, as called by donors and the business community. Members of the committee were from government, UN agencies and some selected donors countries.
