Abstract:
This paper analyses farmers’ soil fertility management in relation to their perceptions of soil fertility and the effects of managing it. It places itself within the discussion of soil fertility management in Sub-Saharan Africa, trying to give voice to what African smallholder farmers think and do about it. The study was part of a collaborative project (Centre for Research on Sustainable Agriculture in Semi-Arid Africa), involving University of Copenhagen, Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, and Centre for Development Research, Copenhagen.
