Management of Information service to support Academic and Research excellence at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)

The presentation shows some of the SNAL's developments and achievements gained in its endeavor to support academic and research excellence through information management at Sokoine University of Agriculture. It introduces users to some services being provided at SNAL that range from traditional ones such as lending and borrowing of books, reference, photocopying services, Inter-Library Loans to services provided through IT (Information Technology), such as CD-ROM search, E-mail, Internet surfing and TEEAL (The Essential Electronic Agricultural Library) that is full text journals on CDs). The presentation finally outlines some achievements gained under the library automation project that began in 1996. This includes development of SUALIB (SUA Library Books Database), SUAPER (SUA Library Periodicals Database), TANAP (Tanzania Agricultural Periodicals Database) and AGRIT (Agricultural Research Information Database) and the installation of the library OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) for easy location and searching of library holdings
